A dedicated Shotokan Karate practitioner and instructor, Sensei Nagano Yusuke teaches at Karate Dojo Waku in Tokyo, Japan. Holding a 3rd Dan black belt certified by the prestigious Japan Karate Association (JKA), he trains under the historic Mita Karate Club – the first karate organization established in mainland Japan. Dr. Gianpiero Greco

Black Belt & Professor in Inclusive Sport and Health Sciences

Dr. Gianpiero Greco is a Professor and Researcher at the University of Bari (Italy), specializing in Exercise and Sport Sciences within the Department of Translational Biomedicine and Neuroscience (DiBraiN). He earned his PhD in Neuroscience and Translational Medicine from the same institution in 2017. His research centres on adapted physical activity, sport, and health promotion across diverse populations, with interdisciplinary expertise spanning Sports Medicine, Sport Psychology, Special Education, and Nutrition & Dietetics. In 2025, Dr. Greco was honoured among the Stanford–Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists in Clinical Medicine – Sport Sciences, recognizing his global impact in advancing health through movement and inclusion. In addition, he holds a Second Dan in Karate (FIJLKAM-WKF)

Dr. Wolfgang Mastnak

Professor of Cardiac Rehab and Arts Therapies | Karate Researcher

Dr. Wolfgang Mastnak is a professor at Fudan University (Shanghai), Shandong University, Beijing Normal University, and the University of Music and Theatre Munich. His interdisciplinary academic work bridges medicine, music, and sports science. He earned his PhD in sports sciences from the University of Hamburg (Germany) with a thesis on Karate and Health—a theme that remains central to his research. Karate continues to shape both his personal practice and scientific focus, especially in its therapeutic role in long-term cardiac rehabilitation, which underpins his medical professorship at Fudan University.
